About Alisia Cooper - Who He Calls, He Equips!
My Background
And those he predestined he also called, and those whom he called, he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. Romans 8:30 (ESV)
This journey of the ministry began one Sunday after listening to a powerful message preached by my previous pastor. He told us, we were all created for a purpose and we should ask the Lord what our purpose is. This was exciting news for me as a new convert in the body of Christ, because I never knew what my purpose was and never once thought I had a gift or where I even fit.
I asked the Lord that night in prayer, “what is my purpose?”and went to sleep. In essence - I was half asleep and half awake, then suddenly I was in an open vision and had an encounter with the Lord, and he told me I was a speaker. I remembered giving God all the reasons why I was incapable of speaking.Oh yes! I tried my hardest to convince or change God’s mind about this. Listen! You have to understand, speaking was the weakest part of who I was and I could not understand how it was going to happen. I have failed miserably every time I had to speak in a tiny classroom or even at any of my jobs that would require me to do public speaking, even if it’s an audience of five people, it would still be a chaotic experience. After the Lord told me this, he later opened a door for me to teach bible studies at a rehabilitation center for women called The Ruth House with no experience or no qualifications. But qualified by God and with the help of the Holy Spirit, I taught that class for three and a half years, all glory to God. Hallelujah!
I am currently a Sunday school teacher at my church - The Pentecostal of Apopka Florida -
Today my understanding is - “God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called.”
